World Mental Health Day and cultural events in Marosvásárhely

October 10 marks World Mental Health Day, an observance established by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992. The initiative aims to raise awareness, combat stigma surrounding psychiatric issues, and promote mental well-being. This date also coincides with the birthday of Ferenc Flór, a prominent Hungarian physician known for his work in surgery, organizing the Pest public health network, and pioneering the Hungarian medical terminology.

In Marosvásárhely, the 28th Bernády Days cultural series will feature an evening with award-winning writer and poet Krisztián Grecsó on October 23. Titled ‘Egy életem…’, the event at the Kultúrpalota will involve personal storytelling and reflections on his literary works. The festival includes various activities such as student competitions, sports, and exhibitions, concluding with ceremonies honoring the memory of former mayor György Bernády.
