World Music Contest 2026: Luxembourg’s Mondercange and Germany’s Seepark win gold medals

The World Music Contest (WMC) was held on 25‑26 July 2026 in Kerkrade, the Netherlands. Harmonie Municipale de Mondercange from Luxembourg earned a gold medal with distinction, scoring 91.44 points (4th of 14) in Division 3. Their program included the compulsory work “Evolutions for Winds” by Luxembourgish composer Marco Pütz and two self‑selected pieces – “Flashing Winds” by Jan van der Roost and “Moving Heaven and Earth” by Philip Sparke.

Orchestergemeinschaft Seepark, a symphonic wind orchestra from Freiburg, Germany, also received a gold medal in Division 3. The 67‑musician ensemble performed the same compulsory piece by Marco Pütz and the two works by Jan van der Roost and Philip Sparke. Their victory marks the continuation of a 25‑year development programme and highlights the ensemble’s sustained musical excellence.

Both ensembles celebrated the achievement, underscoring the international prestige of the WMC and its role in showcasing high‑level wind‑band artistry.
