Kyrgyzstan hosts 6th World Nomad Games for thousands of athletes
The 6th World Nomad Games concluded in Kyrgyzstan with a grand closing ceremony in Cholpon-Ata, following events held across the Issyk-Kul region. The biennial competition brought together thousands of athletes and artists from approximately 90 to 109 countries to celebrate Central Asian nomadic traditions.
Sporting disciplines included horseback archery, wrestling, eagle hunting, and the prominent Kok-boru, a mounted game involving a goat carcass. The games also featured cultural components, such as the ‘Kochmondor Sanaty’ International Festival of Traditional Music, which hosted artists from 38 nations to showcase musical heritage.
In addition to the competitions, an ethno-village was established at the Kyrchyn Gorge, featuring approximately 500 traditional Kyrgyz yurts to demonstrate regional customs and hospitality to international visitors.
