World Oceans Day 2026 Calls for Strong Marine Protected Areas
World Oceans Day is observed on June 8, 2026 with the theme “Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet.” The UN‑designated day highlights the oceans’ role in climate regulation, biodiversity, food security and livelihoods for billions of people.
In Pakistan, the Navy reiterated its commitment to the day’s objectives, noting ongoing coastal‑cleaning campaigns, public‑awareness drives and efforts to expand marine protected areas in the Arabian Sea. A naval spokesperson urged “all stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to this objective.”
