World ParaVolley to launch Sitting Volleyball Club World Championship in 2028

World ParaVolley has announced the launch of the inaugural Sitting Volleyball Club World Championship, scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2028. The tournament is designed to establish a sustainable global pathway specifically for top-tier men’s and women’s club teams.

The first edition in 2028 will feature eight men’s and eight women’s clubs. There are preliminary plans to expand the competition to 12 teams per gender starting in 2030. To ensure the focus remains on permanent club structures, national teams, representative sides, and all-star selections are strictly prohibited from participating.

Qualification will occur through zonal, regional, and sub-zonal championships across Africa, Asia–Oceania, Europe, and Pan-America throughout 2027. The host nation for the 2028 event is expected to be selected by the end of 2026.
