World Perinatal Bereavement Awareness Day marked by memorials and awareness events

To mark World Perinatal Bereavement Awareness Day on October 15, 2026, various activities and personal testimonies are being shared to highlight the realities of pregnancy loss.

In the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region of Canada, La Nichée d’Alma and Deuil 02 are organizing community events. This includes the inauguration of a memorial site at the Saint-Sacrement cemetery in Alma, designed to provide families a space to honor the memory of infants. In Saguenay, the regional committee is focusing on miscarriage awareness through an intimate sharing session in Jonquière and a commemorative march and discussion panel at UQAC.

In France, personal accounts are being used to illustrate the lasting impact of perinatal loss. One individual shared her experience of losing a daughter to severe spina bifida, describing the profound emotional struggle and the difficulty of navigating medical diagnoses and grief following a medical termination of pregnancy.
