World Photography Day initiatives highlight Latin American talent and musical history

In observance of World Photography Day on August 19, various initiatives are highlighting the medium's cultural and historical impact. Sony has opened registrations for the 2027 Sony World Photography Awards and the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards, specifically inviting photographers, filmmakers, and students from Latin America to participate in these international platforms.

In Chile, Centex will host a discussion titled ‘El Ritmo de una Imagen: un repaso por la fotografía musical chilena’. The event features photographers Gonzalo Donoso, Valentina Palavecino, and Jorge Severino, who will explore the visual history of Chilean music. The conversation will cover diverse eras, from the counterculture of the late 1980s to contemporary urban scenes, using photography as a tool for cultural memory and heritage.
