World Physiotherapy Day focuses on cardiovascular health and stroke rehabilitation

Medical institutions in Namibia and India marked World Physiotherapy Day by focusing on the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

At Katutura Intermediate Hospital, medical officers emphasized that cardiovascular diseases and stroke present significant physical and psychological challenges. Professionals noted that sedentary lifestyles contribute to these conditions and highlighted that physiotherapy is essential for improving mobility, balance, and independence in recovering patients.

In India, the Kolkata Heart Lung Centre and Research Institute hosted a health awareness symposium. Medical experts at the event discussed the importance of scientific cardiopulmonary rehabilitation to maintain vital organ function as muscle reserves decrease with age. The symposium highlighted how guided physical therapy assists patients recovering from heart surgeries, knee replacements, and chronic neurological or musculoskeletal disorders.
