World Poetry Movement launches Gaza children's poetic initiative

The World Poetry Movement has launched a Palestinian poetic initiative titled ‘Poem and Paper Plane’. The digital project aims to connect children in Gaza with Palestinian poets currently residing in Europe.

Palestinian Minister of Culture Emad Hamdan participated in the launch, describing the initiative as a human and cultural attempt to create a window of hope amidst conflict. The project involves poets from various European countries, including Russia, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Poland, and Bulgaria, who send poems to children in Gaza. These poems are translated into multiple languages to broaden their reach.

The initiative uses the symbol of the paper plane to represent childhood and the persistence of dreams despite destruction. Through direct meetings or video calls, the project facilitates a dialogue between poets and children, aiming to ensure the voices of Gaza's youth are heard globally.
