World Post Day highlights postal evolution and new digital connectivity in Indonesia
October 9 marks World Post Day, an annual observance established to recognize the vital role of postal services in connecting communities and supporting economic activities. The day commemorates the founding of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Bern, Switzerland, on October 9, 1874. The UPU, which became a specialized agency of the United Nations in 1948, coordinates international postal policies and systems.
In Indonesia, the digital evolution of postal services is being supported through new connectivity initiatives. Telkomsel Enterprise has collaborated with PosDigi to launch the ‘Sat Set Pos’ package. This connectivity solution is specifically designed to support the operations of approximately 200,000 postal agents within the PosDigi ecosystem. The packages combine general internet data with specialized quotas for POS applications, ranging in price from Rp12,000 to Rp123,000, to facilitate both communication and digital work activities.
