World Premiere of Czech Film 'Osamělý vlk' About WWII Ace Josef František Set for August 20

The world premiere of the Czech biographical film Osamělý vlk is scheduled for 20 August in Prostějov, the town where ace pilot Josef František trained. A second premiere will be held in Prague on 25 August, with a nationwide cinema release following on 27 August.

Directed by Ondřej Veverka, the film follows František’s life from his early days in the Czechoslovak Air Force, through combat missions in Poland, his escape from Nazi‑occupied Czechoslovakia, and his service with the Royal Air Force’s 303 Squadron during the Battle of Britain. Tadeáš Moravec portrays František. Veverka said, “We didn’t want to make just a war film. Osamělý vlk is primarily a story of a man who lived fully and became one of the most prominent personalities of the Second World War.”

The production features extensive visual‑effects work by QQ Studio Ostrava and Magiclab, and the project is accompanied by a comic‑book adaptation drawn from the same screenplay.
