World Rowing Championships 2026: Key semifinals held in Amsterdam

The third day of the 2026 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam featured significant shifts in the competition as several top-tier crews advanced or were eliminated in the semifinals.

In the Men’s Pair, New Zealand’s Ben Taylor and Oli Welch secured the fastest time in the semifinals, defeating Romania and Australia to move closer to defending their world title. Conversely, the Men’s Double Sculls saw upsets as the Croatian crew and Romanian Olympic champions failed to qualify for the A Final.

In the Lightweight Men’s Double Sculls, the Indian duo of Ujjwal Kumar Singh and Rohit successfully qualified for the Final A, joining crews from Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, and the United States.

Other notable results include Ireland’s women’s four and women’s quad advancing to the semifinals, while their men’s crews were eliminated in the heat stage. In the women’s double sculls, Switzerland took the top spot in the semifinals, ahead of the defending champion Dutch crew, while Canada’s performance in the heats prevented Lithuania from advancing to the final.
