World Series of Poker 2026 sets record entries, Player of the Year race tightens

The 57th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas concluded with a record 251,899 total entries across 100 live bracelet events, generating nearly $470 million in prize money and $47.3 million in tournament fees. $33.1 million of the fees were retained by the WSOP, while $14.2 million went to dealers and staff. The $10,000 Main Event attracted 9,208 players and produced an $85.6 million prize pool.

In the $25,000 High Roller event, Alexander Kostritsyn claimed his first WSOP bracelet, eliminating top Player‑of‑the‑Year contenders. Shaun Deeb emerged as the POY leader with Naoya Kihara close behind and Alex Foxen a few points further back, leaving the race extremely close as the series moves toward its final events.

The WSOP officials highlighted Las Vegas as the continuing epicenter of the poker world, noting the event’s expanded reach beyond the casino floor and anticipating the upcoming Final Nine battle for the World Championship on ESPN.
