World Skill Center to launch Green Energy Centre in Bhubaneswar
The World Skill Center (WSC) in Bhubaneswar is establishing a Green Energy (Solar) Centre of Excellence at its Mancheswar campus to strengthen Odisha’s clean-energy workforce. The project is fully funded through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by the Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC), with an investment exceeding ₹1.48 crore planned for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 financial years.
Spanning approximately 3,000 square feet, the facility will provide hands-on training in advanced solar technologies, including rooftop, floating, and solar-tracker systems. The curriculum will integrate industrial automation and digital technologies such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), digital twins, and energy management systems. The center aims to train roughly 300 specialists annually, including solar PV technicians, site supervisors, and energy auditors.
In addition to the new center, officials announced that the annual intake of fully sponsored students at the WSC will increase from 60 to 100. There are also proposals to expand vocational training across the state by establishing new WSC campuses in Berhampur and Sambalpur.
