World Slovene Congress camp and Slovene Scout jamboree draw hundreds of youth
The World Slovene Congress organized its 30th International Slovene Children’s Camp near Maribor, Austria, hosting more than forty children from fourteen countries. The three‑day camp emphasized the Slovene language and cultural and natural heritage, with activities such as map reading and a forest orientation run. General Secretary Sonja Avguštin Čampa and centre director Marijana Jesenek Mori highlighted the event’s role in strengthening ties between Slovenia and its diaspora.
From 7 to 9 August, the Slovene Scout jamboree took place in Dolenja near Ajdovščina, Slovenia, expecting over 500 participants across all scout generations. The gathering brought together Slovene scouts with guests from Austrian Carinthia and Italian AGESCI, featuring workshops, a spiritual meditation, and a closing flag‑lowering ceremony. The event celebrated the 50th anniversary of the united Slovene Scout organization and offered meals, accommodation and a programme suitable for families and children.
