World Smart City Expo 2026 showcases carbon-neutral cities and robotics

The World Smart City Expo 2026, held at BEXCO in Busan, features diverse technological advancements in urban management and robotics.

Gwangmyeong City is showcasing its vision for a carbon-neutral smart city. Utilizing a 16 billion won budget, the city is implementing smart services across energy, transportation, safety, and data sectors. Key initiatives include renewable energy plants, eco-friendly mobility such as electric vehicle sharing and demand-responsive electric buses, and an AIoT-based flood control system. The city aims to demonstrate the synergy between technologies, such as linking eco-friendly power production directly to green transportation networks.

In the field of robotics, AI robotics company XYZ is presenting its Barisbrew robot barista and the DEUX semi-humanoid robot. The Barisbrew solution is capable of producing up to 130 drinks per hour through an unmanned process. The DEUX humanoid, equipped with teleoperation technology and five-fingered hands, demonstrated daily tasks such as folding clothes. XYZ utilizes real-time data from these demonstrations to train its Brain X behavioral intelligence platform, which is designed to expand the range of tasks robots can perform in everyday life.
