World Soundtrack Awards Announces Film Composer Nominees

The 26th World Soundtrack Awards will be held on 10 October. The Film Composer of the Year category includes Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, two‑time Oscar‑winner Alexandre Desplat, Academy Award‑winner Hildur Guðnadóttir, Emmy‑winner Daniel Pemberton and composer Max Richter. Greenwood is recognised for his tension‑filled scores such as “Phantom Thread” and “The Power of the Dog” and for the new Paul Thomas Anderson film “One Battle After Another”. Desplat reinvented John Williams motifs for “Jurassic World Rebirth” and provided lyrical music for Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein”. Guðnadóttir, this year’s guest of honor, is noted for atmospheric soundscapes in “Joker” and “Chernobyl”. Pemberton blends orchestral and genre‑bending textures, while Richter fuses classical orchestration with ambient electronics, exemplified by his score for “Hamnet”.
