World Stroke Day awareness campaigns launched in Argentina and Moldova

In observance of World Stroke Day on October 29, health institutions in Argentina and Moldova have launched initiatives to increase public awareness regarding stroke prevention and symptom recognition.

In Argentina, the Municipal Health System and the Geriatric Hospital's Primary Health Care Service organized a community talk led by neurologist Martín Checcetto. The campaign emphasizes the “ABRAZO” rule—focusing on speech, arms, and smile—to help citizens identify warning signs such as facial asymmetry, difficulty speaking, or limb weakness.

In Moldova, health representatives organized a flashmob to highlight the urgency of rapid intervention. Medical officials noted that thousands of people suffer strokes daily in the country, with ambulance teams providing assistance to over nine thousand stroke patients in the first nine months of the year. The campaign utilizes the “FAST” acronym to educate the public on recognizing facial asymmetry, arm weakness, and speech disturbances to ensure immediate emergency calls to 112.
