World Taekwondo selects Antalya to host 2028 Poomsae Championship

At the World Taekwondo Extraordinary Council Meeting held in Chuncheon, South Korea, it was announced that Antalya, Turkey, has been unanimously selected to host the 2028 World Poomsae Championship. The decision follows a successful candidacy file submitted by the Turkish Taekwondo Federation.

Prof. Dr. Metin Şahin, a member of the World Taekwondo Board, represented Turkey at the meeting alongside WT Auditor Ali Sağırkaya. The council reviewed recent championship and Grand Prix successes in Tashkent, Taiyuan, Rome, and Muju, while also discussing corporate governance and technological investments such as the Smart PSS System.

Looking ahead to the 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship, scheduled for September 16–20 in Chuncheon, Turkey will be represented by 36 national athletes competing across 30 different disciplines.
