World Team Tennis returns with new three-team format

World Team Tennis (WTT) is launching a third chapter of its history, aiming to modernize the spectator experience through technology and new formats. Originally co-founded by Billie Jean King and Larry King, the league has a long history of featuring tennis legends such as Rod Laver, Serena Williams, and Andre Agassi.

The upcoming iteration will operate on a smaller scale, consisting of only three teams: the New York Empire, the Florida Flamingos, and Toronto North. The Toronto-based team, Toronto North, will be associated with former doubles standout Daniel Nestor.

This new phase seeks to adapt the sport to the modern era of streaming, social media, and advanced statistics, continuing the league's tradition of mixed-gender team competition.
