World U20 Athletics Championships in Eugene features Peru and Ecuador teams

The World U20 Athletics Championships took place at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Peru's delegation included sprinters Cayetana Chirinos, who ran 11.99 seconds for 8th in her 100 m heat and placed 40th overall, and Mariano Fiol, who recorded 10.76 seconds for 7th in his 100 m heat and finished 61st overall. Middle‑distance runner Giancarlo Bravo placed 6th in his 800 m heat (1:53.57) and was 35th overall, while Edwar Rely Marquez finished 14th in his 5,000 m heat with a time of 14:00.10.

Ecuador sent a 15‑athlete squad, with seven competitors hailing from the Azuay province. The team comprised eight women and seven men, including Pamela and Dayanna Barreto, Steven Méndez, Pablo Ñauta, Gabriel Bravo, Sebastián Barrera, Luis Campoverde, and others. Coach Julio Chuqui highlighted the high level of competition and expressed confidence in the athletes' ability to contend on the world stage.
