WorldSkills Competition to be held in Shanghai with record Hong Kong delegation

The 48th WorldSkills Competition, often referred to as the ‘Olympics of Skills’, is scheduled to take place in Shanghai from September 22 to 27. The event will feature nearly 1,400 young competitors from approximately 70 countries and regions, competing across 64 different skill categories.

Hong Kong is sending its largest delegation to date, consisting of 41 contestants participating in 37 items. This marks the first time Hong Kong will enter competitors in the ‘Software Testing’ and ‘Furniture Making’ categories. Participants were selected through various selection trials organized by the Vocational Training Council, the Construction Industry Council, and the Clothing Industry Council.

Officials noted that the competition serves as an international platform for young professionals to exchange new ideas and technologies, supporting the development of vocational education as a pillar for economic diversification.
