Worms theater production explores a century of history
The Dramödical e. V. ensemble has staged a new production titled ‘Erna – Wer schreibt, der bleibt’ in Worms. The play offers a turbulent portrait of a fictional woman named Erna, tracing her life from her birth in 1926 to her death a century later.
Written by Mechthild Vogel and Sandra Hoh, the production explores Erna’s journey through the Weimar Republic, World War II, and the economic rise of the leather industry. The narrative follows her pursuit of self-determination, her discovery of writing talent, and her eventual role as a foundation and community founder. The play also incorporates themes of friendship, love, and death, while occasionally connecting local history to broader global politics.
