Worthing FC Stuns Brighton U21s as Newhaven Beats Godalming Town 7-1

Worthing FC recorded a surprising 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion’s under‑21 side, showing strong organization and determination against the higher‑profile development squad. The win is viewed as a major scalp for the non‑league club and adds momentum to their season.

In a separate cup quarter‑final, Newhaven travelled to Surrey and thrashed Godalming Town 7-1 in the Peter Bentley Cup, capitalising on the home side’s defensive errors and relentless attacking play despite heavy rain.

Both results highlight the capability of lower‑league clubs to compete strongly against higher‑level opposition in English football.
