Wout van Aert targets points classification in Vuelta breakaway

During the sixth stage of the Vuelta, Wout van Aert joined an early breakaway with the primary objective of collecting points for the points classification. Although he initially aimed for a stage victory, he decided to pivot his strategy toward intermediate sprints after sensing that the breakaway would not be granted enough freedom to contest the final win.

Van Aert successfully secured 20 points during the intermediate sprints. He noted that while he is currently in a strong position in the secondary classification, overtaking Tadej Pogačar for the lead remains a significant challenge. During the stage, Van Aert also shared a personal moment by waving to his family, Sarah, Georges, and Jerome, who were watching from the roadside.
