Wout van Aert to race in Denmark tour as comeback ahead of Vuelta
Belgian cyclist Wout van Aert, who missed the Tour de France due to an elbow injury and subsequent infection, has been cleared to return to competition. After a period of training in the Italian Dolomites, he will start the Tour of Denmark on July 29, using the race as his first test ahead of the Vuelta a España, which begins on August 22 in Monaco.
Van Aert previously won a stage and the overall classification at the Danish race in 2018. The upcoming start marks his first race since withdrawing from the Tour Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes, and he aims to gauge his form before targeting the Vuelta and the World Championships in Montreal later in the season.
