Wouter Vrancken defends move to Heart of Midlothian

Football manager Wouter Vrancken has addressed criticism from the Belgian media regarding his difficult start with Heart of Midlothian in Scotland. Following a successful tenure at STVV, Vrancken moved to the Scottish club this summer, facing early challenges including losses to Sturm Graz and Benfica in European qualifiers and a squad rebuilt with players from lower leagues.

Vrancken revealed that he turned down more lucrative offers, including a highly profitable contract from Ludogorets in Bulgaria, to join Hearts. He noted that he followed advice from Vincent Kompany to prioritize the quality of the project and the people involved over financial gain.

Despite the initial struggles, Hearts has since recovered, securing a spot in the Conference League after defeating Rapid Wien and climbing to third place in the league, trailing only Celtic and Rangers. Vrancken stated his goal is to make Hearts more dominant and eventually compete for the title against the Glasgow clubs.
