WPIAL high school soccer enters intense section play

High school soccer section play is underway across the WPIAL, with teams competing for top positions in various classifications. In Class 1A, Section 2, a high-scoring period saw 43 goals across three games. Notable results include a North Allegheny victory over Seneca Valley and a 3-0 win for South Fayette against Montour.

In Class 4A, several sections are seeing intense competition for first place. In Section 3-4A, Seneca Valley, North Allegheny, and North Hills are currently tied at the top. Meanwhile, in Section 2-2A, Ambridge, Beaver, and North Catholic have maintained strong defensive records, with North Catholic having yielded only one goal in five victories.

Beyond match results, local coaches are reacting to upcoming PIAA rule changes scheduled for 2026, which will impact player recovery management and officiating standards.
