WPIAL soccer enters section play for boys and girls

High school soccer in Western Pennsylvania enters a critical phase as section play begins for both boys and girls across various classifications.

In boys soccer, several reigning WPIAL champions are scheduled for action. Three-time defending district Class A winner Bentworth, which holds a 25-match winning streak, opens Section 2-A action against Bishop Canevin. Other champions including Fox Chapel (Class 4A), West Allegheny (Class 3A), and Deer Lakes (Class 2A) are scheduled for non-section matches.

In girls soccer, section competition officially kicks off in Class 3A, Class 2A, and Class 1A. Following a weekend of tournament play, including a 5-0 victory for Quaker Valley over Ambridge, the schedule shifts to a heavy slate of both section openers and non-conference matchups throughout Monday evening.
