wPolsce24 disputes Nielsen viewership data amid declining market share

The Polish television station wPolsce24 is contesting recent viewership data provided by Nielsen, alleging that changes in measurement methodology have unfairly impacted their market share and advertising revenue. Editor-in-chief Jacek Karnowski reported a significant drop in viewership, claiming the station lost approximately one-third of its results following changes in how online platforms are integrated into the metrics.

Data from September 2026 shows wPolsce24 held a 1.28% market share with an average of 71,400 viewers, a 5.2% decrease compared to the same period the previous year. The station has launched a campaign titled ‘Nie damy się okraść!’ (We will not be robbed!) to protest the findings.

The dispute has also triggered a public disagreement between brothers Jacek and Michał Karnowski. While station employees suggested Nielsen might be manipulating panels, Michał Karnowski dismissed the theory, suggesting the decline could stem from programming changes or content selection. Jacek Karnowski responded by criticizing his brother’s external business interests and past involvement with the station.
