WQED-TV celebrates Pittsburgh horror heritage with Dead Air series

WQED-TV is launching its ‘Dead Air’ series throughout October to celebrate the horror and Halloween heritage of the Pittsburgh region. The programming includes television premieres from local independent filmmakers and a newly digitized 1979 documentary titled ‘Tom Savini: Master of Metamorphosis,’ which profiles the Pittsburgh-born makeup and special-effects artist.

The series also features George A. Romero’s classic ‘Night of the Living Dead.’ WQED will host a live screening of the film at the Oaks Theater in Oakmont on October 27. Additionally, the station will broadcast ‘Dead Air: The WQED Archives Resurrected,’ a collection of stories originally aired between 2004 and 2008.
