Oliver Solberg of Toyota Gazoo Racing leads the first day of the WRC Rally Chile Biobío, holding a 10.1-second advantage over championship leader and teammate Elfyn Evans. The opening day featured highly variable conditions, starting with muddy and slippery tracks due to overnight rain before transitioning to drier, more abrasive gravel in the afternoon.

Solberg secured two stage wins during the day, while other stage winners included Elfyn Evans, Sami Pajari, and Sébastien Ogier. Adrien Fourmaux of Hyundai holds third place, 18 seconds behind Solberg. The competition remains tight, with the top six drivers separated by less than 28 seconds.

The event saw some setbacks, including Takamoto Katsuta of Toyota, who retired after going off-course during the first special stage. In the WRC2 category, Yuki Yamamoto was hospitalized for medical examination following an accident in SS6. The rally continues with six special stages on Saturday.
