WRC Rally Chile intensifies championship battle between Evans and Pajari
The World Rally Championship (WRC) enters a critical phase with the Rally Chile Biobío, the penultimate event of the season. The championship battle is primarily a duel between Toyota teammates Elfyn Evans and Sami Pajari. Evans currently holds a 20-point lead over Pajari, who enters the event with significant momentum following three consecutive victories in Estonia, Finland, and Paraguay.
Additionally, Oliver Solberg remains in contention for the title, trailing Evans by 41 points with three rallies remaining. The event is also vital for Toyota Gazoo Racing, which is close to securing its 10th manufacturers' title.
The rally features over 310 kilometers of competitive stages, with approximately 40 percent of the route being new for this edition. Drivers face challenging conditions, including hard surfaces that test tire durability and unpredictable weather that could impact performance. Toyota has also announced a personnel change, with navigator James Fulton replacing Aaron Johnston, who is sidelined with a fractured collarbone.
