Reug-Reug arrested in Dakar counterfeit currency investigation

Oumar Kane, the professional MMA fighter and wrestler known as Reug-Reug, has been arrested in Dakar by the Faidherbe Gendarmerie Research Brigade. The arrest is part of an investigation into a suspected counterfeit currency ring involving 'black notes' presented as 100-dollar bills.

According to investigative reports, the arrest followed a meticulous undercover operation where gendarmes posed as specialists capable of 'washing' the counterfeit notes. The operation reportedly led to the seizure of a large quantity of these notes, with an estimated value ranging from 830 million to 900 million CFA francs. Several other suspects, including a man identified as a 'saltigué' and an individual described as the wrestler's uncle, were also taken into custody.

The National Association of Wrestlers of Senegal (ANLS) has expressed deep dismay over the situation. While the association emphasized the importance of the discipline's values of respect and citizenship, its president, Ibrahima Dione (Gris Bordeaux), called for calm and urged the public to respect the presumption of innocence as the judicial process unfolds.
