Wrexham AFC nears signing of Burnley defender Joe Worrall

Wrexham AFC is nearing a permanent signing of Burnley centre-back Joe Worrall. The 29-year-old defender is expected to undergo a medical today, successfully beating out interest from Championship side Sheffield United.

Worrall’s arrival is expected to impact Wrexham’s defensive roster. His signing could facilitate the departure of existing defenders, including Conor Coady and potentially Dan Scarr, as manager Phil Parkinson looks to streamline the squad. Worrall previously played for Nottingham Forest and Besiktas, and has significant experience in the Championship.

This move follows a busy summer for the North Welsh club, which has already secured several signings including goalkeeper Anthony Patterson and midfielders Ben Whiteman and Issa Kabore.
