Wrexham AFC signs Gabonese defender Jacques Ekomie
Wrexham AFC has announced the signing of Gabonese international defender Jacques Ekomie from French Ligue 1 side Angers. The 23-year-old left-back has signed a four-year contract that runs until the end of the 2029-30 campaign.
Ekomie, who has earned 22 caps for Gabon, joins the Championship club following a period at Angers where he made 35 appearances in all competitions. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson described the acquisition as a transfer the club worked hard to secure, noting Ekomie is a good young player who will be integrated into the squad.
Ekomie expressed excitement about joining what he described as an ambitious and interesting project, stating his desire to progress and help the team achieve its goals. The transfer follows Ekomie's professional development in France, having previously played for Bordeaux and Mérignac.
