Wrexham and North East Wales Highlight Education and Culture at National Eisteddfod

A partnership between Coleg Cambria, Wrexham University, Wrexham County Borough Council and the Wrexham 2029 City of Culture team set up a joint stand at this year's National Eisteddfod in Llantwd, Pembrokeshire (1‑8 August). The stand invited visitors to learn about further and higher education, apprenticeships, Welsh‑medium learning and community initiatives, while promoting the region's bid to become the UK City of Culture in 2029.

Representatives said the collaboration showcases the strength of the local education sector and the commitment to the Welsh language. Llinos Roberts, Director of Welsh Language Development at Coleg Cambria, called the Eisteddfod “the perfect place” to display opportunities across Wrexham and north‑east Wales. Elen Mai Nefydd, Associate Pro Vice‑Chancellor at Wrexham University, highlighted the partnership as a “powerful and united vision” for the region’s future. The City of Culture bid is projected to generate around £200 million in economic benefits if successful.
