Wrexham targets Lyon star Pavel Sulc in potential club-record deal
Wrexham AFC is reportedly preparing a club-record transfer bid for Lyon midfielder Pavel Sulc as the summer window approaches its final week. The 25-year-old Czechia international, who was Lyon’s top scorer in Ligue 1 last season with 11 goals, is a primary target for the Championship side.
Club CEO Michael Williamson has emphasized a strategy of “quality over quantity,” seeking top-tier talent to bolster the squad following a seventh-place finish last season. Wrexham has already secured three signings this summer: Danny Imray from Crystal Palace, goalkeeper Anthony Patterson from Sunderland, and Ben Whiteman from Preston North End. Patterson’s move alone is estimated to be worth at least £8 million.
Manager Phil Parkinson noted that while the club is pursuing difference-making players, they face significant competition from other clubs in the Championship and across Europe. The club aims to finalize its attacking midfield reinforcements before the September 1 deadline.
