Writer Albeiro Arciniegas Featured on Nariño Tourism Banknote

Colombian writer Albeiro Arciniegas has been chosen to appear on a commemorative banknote released by the Dirección Administrativa de Turismo of Nariño. The note is part of a regional tourism campaign that showcases notable figures and landmarks, including the Santuario de Las Lajas, volcano Cumbal and traditional crafts. Organizers say the design aims to strengthen regional identity and attract visitors by highlighting Nariño’s cultural and natural heritage.

Arciniegas, known for his literary work and cultural journalism, confirmed his inclusion after receiving official notification. He noted that the honor also reflects his long‑standing efforts to promote literature and artistic projects in the department.
