Writer launches Palmyra X6 AI model and new orchestration harness

Writer has launched Palmyra X6, a new flagship AI model designed specifically for long-running enterprise agentic tasks. The model is built by post-training Z.ai’s open-source GLM-5.2, which Writer describes as one of the most powerful open-weight models available.

Alongside the model, the company introduced an upgraded orchestration system known as its agentic harness. Writer argues that optimizing this orchestration layer—which manages context, tools, and multi-step workflows—can be more impactful for cost reduction than simply switching foundation models. According to company research, the updated harness can reduce the blended cost per task by 41% and cut median completion time by 44%.

Palmyra X6 is intended to handle complex, multi-step workflows where excessive reasoning or repeated context typically drives up token consumption. The company remains model-agnostic, allowing users to combine Palmyra X6 with third-party models through platforms like Microsoft Azure and Amazon Bedrock.
