Writer Pedro Feijóo leads Nigrán reading club to Rebordechao

The Nieves Ibarra municipal reading club from Nigrán participated in a literary excursion to the village of Rebordechao in Ourense. The visit was led by author Pedro Feijóo, whose psychological thriller, ‘Onde nacen as bestas’, explores the history of Manuel Blanco Romasanta, often cited as Spain’s first serial killer.

During the trip, Feijóo detailed his historical research process regarding Romasanta, who lived in Rebordechao for ten years during the 19th century while committing crimes without raising suspicion. The event aimed to connect literary fiction with the real-world locations that inspired the narrative.

Nigrán Mayor Juan González praised the reading club, noting its growing popularity and its role in promoting reading habits within the municipality. The club is named after Nieves Ibarra, a former teacher and feminist figure who helped establish the initiative in 2023.
