Writer Óscar Amorim presents improvisational literary performance

Writer Óscar Amorim and actor Manuel Soares performed ‘Uma viagem pela vida através dos livros’, an unconventional literary presentation that eschewed traditional scripted formats in favor of improvisation. Performing as the characters Albano and Jeremias, the duo engaged in a dialogue that explored Amorim’s body of work, including his debut novel, ‘A Violação’.

The performance focused on three recurring themes in Amorim’s writing: love, nature, and freedom. These themes manifest through character relationships, moral and religious conflicts, and the physical landscapes that inspire his prose. The production utilized multimedia projections to complement the live interaction and was developed in collaboration with director Manuel Soares of the Grupo Oliveirense de Teatro Amador.

Designed to break away from conventional book presentations, the show relied on spontaneous conversation rather than memorized text to maintain rhythm. The event also integrated elements of the author's personal inspirations, such as the village of Alpedrinha, which served as a setting for his fictional narratives.
