Writer Vladimír Páral dies on 94th birthday

Czech writer Vladimír Páral has passed away on his 94th birthday. A celebrated author of 21 books, many of which were translated into multiple languages, Páral maintained a deep connection to the town of Mariánské Lázně.

He considered the town his second home, even referring to it as ‘Velké Líbeznice’. He was an honorary citizen of the city and the founder of the local Writers' Trail. Locals remember him as a gallant figure who frequently distributed yellow roses to women at the colonnade and engaged warmly with visitors.

Páral was known for his interest in human relationships and social dynamics. He once established a ‘Dating Colonnade’ in Mariánské Lázně to encourage in-person connections among young people, expressing concern over the decline of personal interaction in the digital age.
