Writing may be more resilient to AI than coding

While artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the programming industry by automating code generation and increasing productivity quotas, professional writing may remain more resilient to automation.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated significant proficiency in generating code, leading to concerns that human coders may face obsolescence. However, text-based models appear to have hit a plateau regarding prose quality. Current AI-generated writing often lacks depth, authenticity, and insight, frequently relying on repetitive cadences and cliches. Because writing is considered a ‘wicked problem’—one lacking a definitive formulation or objectively correct solution—it remains difficult for AI to bridge the gap in expressive and soulful communication.
