WRO Venezuela 2026 national robotics finals begin in Caracas

The national finals of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Venezuela 2026 have commenced at the Círculo Militar de Caracas. The event brings together 257 children and young people from 12 different states to showcase technical talent, creativity, and ingenuity in the field of technology.

Operating under the theme ‘Robots Meet Culture,’ participants are using technical knowledge to protect and promote Venezuela’s cultural heritage. The competition follows eight regional qualifiers held throughout September in states including Miranda, Trujillo, Táchira, Nueva Esparta, Carabobo, Anzoátegui, and Zulia.

Minister of Science and Technology Yván Gil Pinto noted that the initiative is part of the ‘Semilleros Científicos’ National Program, aimed at fostering early scientific vocations. Vice Minister Danmarys Hernández confirmed that 90 teams have qualified through this season, with the goal of representing the country at the international competition in Puerto Rico in December 2026.
