Wrocław bus incident: Electric unicycle causes smoke and damage
An electric unicycle spontaneously activated while being carried by a passenger on an MPK Wrocław bus, leading to a dangerous situation. The device moved uncontrollably inside the vehicle, damaging the floor and causing smoke to fill the interior.
The bus driver reacted quickly by stopping the vehicle and evacuating all passengers. No injuries were reported among the passengers or staff. Although the incident occurred on September 23 at Pilecki roundabout, the footage was released by the carrier recently.
MPK Wrocław reminded the public that regulations implemented on April 29, 2026, prohibit the transport of electric personal mobility devices in buses and trams. This ban includes electric unicycles, electric scooters, electric skateboards, and electric bicycles, due to the unpredictable technical state of their batteries and the risk of fire, explosion, or physical injury during sudden braking. Only traditional bicycles and scooters are permitted, provided they do not obstruct movement within the vehicle.
