Wrocław hosts Speedway Grand Prix and SGP3 youth world championship
The Speedway Grand Prix of Poland took place on 20 June at Wrocław’s Olimpijski Stadium. Six Polish riders – Bartosz Zmarzlik, Kacper Woryna, Dominik Kubera, Patryk Dudek, Maciej Janowski and a wildcard – competed against a field that included Australian challenger Brady Kurtz, who has recently been a strong rival to Zmarzlik. The event featured sprint qualifying and the main Grand Prix race, drawing over 13 000 spectators.
The same venue also hosted the SGP3 World Championship for riders under 16. Three Polish teenagers – Franciszek Szczyrba, Dawid Oscenda and Oskar Wińczewski – entered as favourites. After a series of heats that saw several crashes and two riders taken to hospital, Szczyrba claimed the individual title, becoming the first Polish world champion in the category. The competition included participants from the United States, Denmark, Germany, Ukraine and other nations, highlighting the event’s international youth field.
