Wrocław launches tram dedicated to conductor Andrzej Markowski

Wrocław has introduced a new tram dedicated to the memory of Andrzej Markowski, a prominent conductor, composer, and the founder of the Wratislavia Cantans festival. The unveiling ceremony took place on September 3, 2026, at the Wrocław Opera, coinciding with the opening of the 61st edition of the festival.

This vehicle marks the 22nd tram in the MPK Wrocław network to be named after a patron. The interior of the tram serves as a mobile exhibition, featuring biographical information, quotes, and archival materials about Markowski to educate passengers and tourists about his contributions to Polish culture.

The event was organized by MPK Wrocław and the National Forum of Music, with attendees including city officials and Markowski’s daughter, Małgorzata Markowska.
