Poland implements road infrastructure projects and new traffic laws

Poland is undergoing extensive road infrastructure developments and legislative changes. Major projects include the reconstruction of the Stronie Śląskie dam to improve flood protection, the construction of a new bypass in Osiek, and various local road modernizations in cities like Łódź, Poznań, and Biłgoraj.

On a regulatory level, the Polish parliament has passed legislation that will introduce stricter penalties for drivers, including the loss of driving licenses for entering railway crossings during red lights or when unable to proceed. Additionally, a conflict has emerged regarding toll increases on the A2 motorway between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin. The Ministry of Infrastructure and GDDKiA are challenging the price hikes implemented by Autostrada Wielkopolska SA, citing high costs for motorists and the potential for increased traffic on alternative national roads. The UOKiK is currently investigating the justification for these price increases.
