Various criminal proceedings and legal rulings in Austria and Germany

Multiple legal developments have emerged across Austria and Germany involving serious criminal charges and court rulings.

In Tyrol, Austria, prosecutors have filed charges against parents for the continuous abuse and neglect of their seven-year-old daughter. The child was hospitalized in a life-threatening condition, weighing only eleven kilograms and suffering from severe skin infections, sepsis, and physical impairments that left her unable to move or stand.

In Germany, the Würzburg District Court has sentenced a 49-year-old man to six years and three months of juvenile imprisonment for the 1993 murder of a 13-year-old girl at a riding stable. The case, previously a cold case, was reopened following new investigative methods.

Additionally, a trial has commenced in Mannheim against a 17-year-old Syrian refugee accused of murdering his 19-year-old girlfriend in a forest. The prosecution alleges the attack was motivated by jealousy and a desire to prevent a breakup. In Vienna, a Swedish man faces charges of attempted murder after allegedly encouraging a 14-year-old girl to commit suicide and assisting in the act.

In Erfurt, a former care assistant has been sentenced to four years and ten months of juvenile imprisonment for the manslaughter of a 93-year-old nursing home resident, despite his continued claims of innocence.
