Würzburg to invest 23.16 million euros in school toilet renovations

The city of Würzburg has announced an investment of 23.16 million euros to renovate school toilet facilities. The initiative aims to ensure that every school has at least one renovated restroom facility for female students and one for male students, as well as a barrier-free toilet at every school location.

Between 2019 and 2026, 7.7 million euros have already been invested. Out of a total of 339 toilet facilities, 137 have been renovated, leaving 202 remaining. To address urgent needs, an additional 7.7 million euros are planned in the short term, with medium- to long-term financing requirements estimated between 7.38 and 8.09 million euros.

The renovations involve extensive work on plumbing, water, and sewage lines, as well as the replacement of basins, urinals, and sinks. Other improvements include heating, ventilation, tiling, electrical work, lighting, and the installation of new partitions and ceilings. The average cost per facility is expected to be approximately 66,000 euros.
